Wizarding World of Harry Potter

I am in love with Harry Potter, both the books and the movies (and maybe the actor haha)! I finally got to check out the new addition to the park and it was so amazing, definitely a must if you are a "potterhead" like me! Here's a video of the outfit I wore, and some pictures I took of the buildings! The whole park was so photogenic if that even makes sense, I pretty much used up all of the memory on my phone just taking pictures and video of it all!

New Years Resolutions 2015

Did you know that most people give up on their New Years resolutions by February 18th? I can't say I'm not guilty of getting a little lazy myself... So I came up with some tips on writing your resolutions and making them stick throughout the year! It has helped me with my past resolutions and there are also some things I learned just this year!

1.) Make your goals specific. You're way more likely to follow through if you have a direction and a plan. Start with a broad goal ("I want to save money"), then break it down and make it more specific ("I'm going to save half of the money each time I get paid").

2.) Set "MAD" goals. This kind of adds on to tip #1. By this, I mean goals that are Measurable, Attainable, and Deadline Driven. This will make them so much more likely to stick because you can track your progress and you are setting goals that you know you can accomplish. (Ex. I am going to walk at least ten minutes every day, and work up to running for ten minutes every day by July.)

3.) Make fun resolutions! Don't make all of your resolutions serious, you definitely won't stick with them if you feel like it's all work and no play! (Ex. I am going to dedicate one day each month to go to the spa, go out to eat, or go shopping.)

4.) Don't just think about what you want to change, think about good things that you do that you want to continue! It'll help you stay more positive and motivated. (Ex. I am going to continue to do cardio exercises at least once a week.)

5.) Display your resolutions! Put them where you can see them every day AND multiple places to remind and motivate you so that you don't forget! (Ex. mirror, cork board, fridge, planner, phone, etc.)

6.) Tell others about your goals. If your friends and family know, you won't want to disappoint!

That's it! I hope these tips help! Here are some of my own resolutions :)

-I am going to get at least 7 hours of sleep at night/ go to bed by 10 PM. (Not always possible, but I can try haha)

-I'm going to do yoga for 10 minutes right when I wake up, and 10 minutes before bed to relieve stress.

-I am going to blog and put up a video at least once every week.

Alright, have a fabulous day and write those New Years resolutions! There's always things we can do to improve! Stay Positive!

Feeling Floral

floral shorts, quilted leather bag, heart sunglasses, spring outfit

quilted leather bag

metallic and pastel nail design

I guess I'm already dressing for the next season! Spring is my favorite season, so when I saw these shorts on sale at American Eagle in my exact size, I just had to buy them. They have a ruffled edge at the bottom hem which makes these shorts really flirty and girly, not that the print didn't already do that! I paired these with a plain fitted black tee and two simple gold necklaces. I got this quilted leather black purse from one of my friends for my birthday and I was so ecstatic, I'm not even exaggerating. I've been wanting a purse like this for a lifetime, and I think it looks absolutely amazing with this outfit. Oh yeah, and I finally got a new pair of heart shaped sunglasses! My old ones broke, which broke my heart hahaha just kidding, but I was still slightly depressed about it. I don't know why I like them so much, but my parents sure think they're odd. Oh well, I think I look spiffy. As for my nails, I used a light purple sand lacquer from Forever 21, and then I painted over half of my nail with a metallic silver polish. It's like a subtle graphic design. Well enough of me talking, I have to go and pick my outfit for tomorrow! Hope you have a fabulous day!

Hair Cut and a Shaved Dog

Guess what!! I finally cut my hair! I've been wanting to for soooo long, it's not even funny. My hair literally got in the way of everything. Haha awhile ago, I was riding on a tram and the wind was blowing and my hair ended up blowing all in this man's face behind me, he had no idea where it was coming from. It was horrible. Anyways, here was my hair before:

long hair before hair cutlong hair before hair cut

and here is my hair now!

medium hair cutmedium hair cut

It looks so much healthier, fresh and modern. At least in my opinion. I'm so excited because I can finally fit all of my hair on my curling wand, and I can finally do the up do's I've always wanted to do! Oh and in addition to getting my hair cut, we got my dog's hair cut too! Well, actually... shaved. His hair was too long so it got all knotted and the groomers told us we had to shave him. We felt like such horrible dog owners! But he's much happier now.

It's funny because I got so emotional when they started shaving him, but when I got my own hair cut, I didn't even shed a tear haha. I totally thought I was going to experience withdrawal, but nope! Not yet at least.... It's only been a day...

Anyways, just wanted to share this little life event with you guys! Hope you have a wonderful and fabulous day! Merry Christmas Eve!

Two Holiday Outfit Ideas 2014

First of all, it's very, very hard to dress like it's winter when the weather is boiling hot outside. It's so frustrating, but I'm glad I don't have to worry about being snowed in. So here are my sunny gal style holiday outfits! I have a dressy one that I would wear to a holiday party or any occasion like that, and I also have a casual one that I would wear out with friends or to a holiday festival, like in the video! Hope you have a fabulous day!

Happy Turkey Day 2014

Happy Thanksgiving! I always look forward to Thanksgiving, not only because of the delicious food, but because it gives you an opportunity to really tell everyone how thankful you are to have them in your life. It's a great day to reflect on the wonderful things that you are blessed with and the people who help you through it all.
I am extremely lucky to have amazing parents and friends and a good education. Not everyone in the world has those luxuries. I'm also thankful for those of you who read my blog and watch my videos! It's so neat to see people who like what I'm doing. So anyways, I just wanted to do a short little post saying thank you, and also to remind you of what Thanksgiving is really about. It's not all about the turkey and stuffing, but also about being thankful of your life right now, even if it's tough, you have to stay positive. Take risks, enjoy life, and surround yourself with people who make you a better you.
Have a fabulous Thanksgiving and make sure to wear clothes that can stretch if you know you'll be eating a lot haha! Trust me.

XO, Lauren

Don't forget to tell you're friends and family how thankful you are to have them in your life! One day they might not be there anymore so don't waste any second! Let them know how much they're appreciated!

Oh and here's a little vlog of my Thanksgiving morning haha!

Movie Theater and Burgers

Funny thing about going to the movie theater, I never want to go but once I do, I usually end up really enjoying it! Maybe it's because I'd rather be active and doing something instead of just sitting and staring at a screen, but when I actually decide to go, I have a few outfit guidelines. I'm always cold in the movie theater, I don't know if it's just me or if having the air conditioning on high is just a thing, so I like to wear a sweater or bring a light jacket. I also like to wear jeans to keep my legs warm. Overall, I tend to wear clothes that are comfortable and warm. So here's a video of my most recent trip to the movies along with my outfit AND burgers because I love burgers. Have a fabulous day!

Wearing new outerwear is one of my MOST FAVORITE parts of fall and winter! I love wearing everything from leather jackets and cardigans, to capes and coats. I am always in need of new pieces to wear in autumn, so I came up with this easy cardigan/ shawl and there's no sewing involved! I love how put together and effortless it looks, it will definitely be put to use this season! Anyways, hope you enjoy and have a fabulous day!

Autumn means cooler weather, warm drinks, sweaters, boots, and everything cozy. One thing I love in the fall would be picnics. There's just something about spending time outside with a little food and a cute outfit, of course. For my outfit, I am wearing a navy and white striped sweater, which is actually my mom's shhh... I chose to pair this orange jersey scarf with the sweater because it was a solid color so as not to distract from the stripes, and it also contrasted well with the navy blue. Jeans were a must, and I wore a pair of leopard print flats to add some dressiness. I would describe this outfit as classy and casual. Each piece of the outfit compliments another, and I loved mixing stripes and leopard print.

How has your fall been so far? What are your favorite fall activities? Let me know and have a fabulous day!

Let's Eat Greek

combat boots and jeans

green lace crop top and high waisted jeans

Traveling is something I definitely want to do after I graduate high school and college. I'd absolutely LOVE to go to Greece. But for now, the closest substitute is to go out to my local Greek restaurant and order some chicken souvlaki. Good enough right? So for my lunch outfit, I decided to wear a green lace shirt from Macy's and my high waisted jeans from Aeropostale because the shirt is actually cropped. I paired it with a geometric print pom pom scarf, also from Aeropostale, and my black combat boots from Target (be prepared to see these boots in a lot of my posts as the weather cools down). My three bracelets are made by me, and they make the outfit a little more casual and bohemian, rather than edgy (which could be done by adding some metal accents like a silver cuff bracelet). This could be worn as a traveling outfit, or a lunch date ensemble as I did. It's nice to wear for cool weather, but if you have actual cold weather, I'd suggest a jacket because I was kinda chilly. Anyways, have a fabulous first day of November!

OOTD | Halloween Festival

Halloween is SO close and I'm SO excited! I recently went to this Halloween festival and I wanted to share my Halloween inspired outfit with you! It has a casual grunge style to it, and it would be nice to wear to school, the mall, the movies, or hanging out with friends. I tried to incorporate the plaid trend for this fall by adding my plaid flannel. I'm so glad I did because it brought the whole outfit together and definitely made it look more styled. Hope you enjoy and have a fabulous day!

DIY Skeleton Shirt

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I love dressing up and decorating, especially when I make my own clothes/costumes and decorations! I was really inspired by some pictures of cut tee shirts like this on Pinterest, and so I decided to try it out for myself! I think this halloween diy skeleton shirt turned out really cute, and it wasn't hard to make at all. It looks great paired with a black tank top and leggings, but you can totally wear it any way to fit your style! This DIY tee shirt is perfect if you want to look festive without going all out in a total body costume, but that's not to say you couldn't use it in a costume too! That would probably look really good! Alright, I hope you enjoy the video tutorial I made, and have a fabulous day!

Get Ready With Me | Homecoming 2014

My look for the homecoming dance was pretty simple. I wanted my dress to be the highlight, so a dramatic makeup look was not what I was thinking. I just did winged eyeliner, mascara, lip gloss, and bronzer, and of course I used CC cream to make my face look a little smoother and brighter. As for the hair situation, I really wanted to do an up-do so that you could see the back of my dress, but since my hair is basically a mile long, I couldn't figure out what to do with it, so I went with curling it, which still turned out pretty cute! What did you guys do for your homecoming looks? Or if you haven't had your homecoming, what look would you want? Let me know and have a super fab day!

I'm always looking for new fashion blogs to follow and I've found a few that I just had to share with you guys! Some of them are ones that I've been following for awhile, and some I just found recently, but I love all of them!

-This blog is run by Sarah Vickers, and she has an amazingly classy and preppy style. I'm in love with all of her outfits and the photographs she posts of her adventures and lifestyle.

2.) Views of Now
-Isabella's style is laid back and casual, but I love that she experiments with unique garments while still keeping her own style.

3.) Honey & Silk
-The beautiful Stephanie Liu has a certain elegance in her appearance and her style that is just so mesmerizing. She effortlessly puts together gorgeous ensembles, and I would totally want all of the clothes in her wardrobe. No joke.

4.) Lust for Life
-This blog is run by Olivia Lopez, and she's Filipina just like me! I love her style so much, it's kinda boho, island-y, and festival-ish (if that even makes sense), but it's also classy, vintage and effortless.

5.) The Blonde Salad
-Chiara Ferragni is so stunning. There's no doubt that she can make anything look good. Her style is classy and European and she's shown everything from soft and pretty looks to edgy and sexy looks. She's definitely one of my top style inspirations.

Making My Homecoming Dress

I think it's safe to say that homecoming is one of my favorite parts of the school year. Everyone is pretty much all excited about the same thing, and there's so much school spirit throughout the week! Every year I make my dress for the dance, and every year I get asked how in the world I made it from scratch.  So, I decided to put together a video of my design process and me sewing the dress because I really enjoy it and hopefully it will give you some ideas if you want to make a dress too! I tried to give some little sewing tips throughout the video, so hopefully they're helpful! I am super proud how my dress came out, I think it was my best homecoming dress out of the four I've made throughout high school! And... It was the first dress I finished early, which is an accomplishment for me because I finished all of the other dresses the day of the dance hahaha! It only took me four years to learn not to procrastinate lol. Alright, have a super fab day lovelies and I'll talk to you in my next post!!

I never liked plaid when I was younger. It looked too boy-ish, and I was way too delicate and girly to wear it (in my mind). But just recently, this adorable plaid flowy dress at Tilly's caught my eye and I couldn't leave it on the rack, especially since it was on clearance too! It was girly enough for my style, and I could imagine it with a cute cardigan, or an edgy leather jacket like the one in today's outfit. As the weather began to cool down, my combat boots were literally screaming my name from the inside of my closet. So I paired them with my new dress too, and they tied the whole look together.
And of course, an outfit is not complete without accessories, so I layered some mixed metal charm necklaces to add an edgy, effortless, and somewhat boho twist. I am so in love with this ensemble and it has definitely opened my mind towards different prints, especially plaid, which is perfect for the fall.

Hope you liked this outfit and that you were inspired to try new prints haha! Have a super fabulous day!
